About Me

Diane Dettmann
Afton, MN, United States
Widowed in 2000, I struggled to make sense of my life. With support and a lot of grief work, I carried the loving memories of my husband with me as a new life evolved. Hoping my grief story would help others, I reread my journal entries and began writing my memoir, Twenty-Eight Snow Angels: A Widow’s Story of Love, Loss and Renewal. Published in 2011, I have shared my story with many grief organizations and the book continues to offer hope to others. In 2012, I decided to try my hand at fiction. Three years later I released my award-winning historical fiction book, Courageous Footsteps: A WWII Novel. A year later, the sequel, Yasu’s Quest: A Tale of Triumph, was released. On Liberty's Wings, the third book in the award-winning series released 2017. These stories about the incarceration of thousands of Japanese Americans in internment camps during WWII have opened people’s eyes to a piece of our country’s history seldom told.
